Studies for a new series entitled “I Promise I Will Not Forget You”
this portrait series will focus on LGBT people that have been victims of hate crimes, committed suicide or have died of AIDS. I am hoping to raise awareness within and outside the queer community about the tragedies queer people have and continue to face.
Study for a portrait of Marsha P Johnson (1944-1992)
Study for a portrait of Islan Nettles (1992-2013)
Study for a portrait of Mathew Shepard (1976-1998)
Study for a portrait of Brandon Teena (1972-1993)
Study for a portrait of Tyler Clementi (1991-2010)
all are roughly 9x12” oil on board
I will hopefully be completing the full scale paintings (3x4ft each) within the next few months, with 75% of all the sales going to queer homeless shelters. If you want more information, have questions or want to contact me please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
I’m a big fan of Tyler’s art and they’re a sweetheart to boot!
Here’s a new and pretty extensive interview with my by Michael Arthur, a furry and journalist who has written several other good articles describing the fandom.
Send this around and tell me what y’all think of it! I want to hear what people found poignant and what you found hazy. Thanks everyone.
Also just so you know, this comes in the middle of a week long hiatus I’m taking from social media, so I won’t be able to get back to your questions and responses until about Sunday. After that though I am happy to pick up this conversation.
